Track traffic from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude
People increasingly ask an AI assistant instead of searching — and click the sources it cites. PageLens shows that traffic as its own channel, AI Assistants, so you can see how much of it you get, where it lands and whether it converts.
What counts as AI traffic
Visits referred by chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, copilot.microsoft.com, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Meta AI, Phind, Poe and you.com are grouped into the AI Assistants channel. Each one also shows up separately in Referrers, with its landing pages, countries and devices.
From visit to signup or purchase
Filter the whole dashboard by the AI Assistants channel to see which pages AI tools send people to, how long they stay, and how many complete a goal or funnel. With revenue tracking you see how much money AI traffic brings.
AI crawlers and agents, separately
Crawlers like GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended, and agents browsing on a user's behalf (ChatGPT-User, Claude-User, Perplexity-User), are classified as bots: they never inflate your visitor numbers, and the Bots & AI page shows which ones loaded your pages. Bots that don't run JavaScript can be sent from your server through the API.
Check what your robots.txt allows
The free AI Crawler Checker shows which AI crawlers and assistants your robots.txt allows or blocks.
Ask your AI assistant about it
The MCP server lets Claude, Cursor or any MCP client answer questions like "Which AI assistants sent us visitors this week?" straight from your data.

Can Google Analytics show ChatGPT traffic?
GA4 records chatgpt.com as a referral, but mixes it with other referrals and needs a custom channel group to separate it. PageLens groups AI assistants into their own channel automatically.
Why is some ChatGPT traffic shown as Direct?
Some AI apps open links without passing a referrer, for example from desktop or mobile apps. Those visits look like direct traffic in every analytics tool. Adding utm_source to links you control helps.
Does tracking AI traffic need cookies?
No. PageLens is cookieless: the referrer is read from the request and no identifier is stored on the visitor's device.
